DxtER

DxtER™

A New Kind of Consumer Medical Device

DxtER™ was originally designed by Basil Leaf Technologies for the global $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE competition under the Final Frontier Medical Devices team name.

DxtER was designed as a device to prove the concept that illnesses can be diagnosed and monitored in the comfort of one’s own home by consumers without any medical training. At the heart of DxtER is a sophisticated diagnostic engine based on analysis of actual patient data and years of experience in clinical emergency medicine. We developed algorithms for diagnosing 34 health conditions, only half of which were leveraged in the competition. Some of these conditions include: diabetes, atrial fibrillation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, urinary tract infection, sleep apnea, leukocytosis, pertussis, stroke, tuberculosis, and pneumonia.

Development of DxtER also involved the creation of a collection of non-invasive sensors, custom-designed to collect data about a person’s vital signs, body chemistry, and biological functions. Each sensor is able to function independently of the integrated DxtER system.

The system pulls together data from a patient’s personal and family medical history, physical exam, and multiple sensors to make a quick and accurate assessment. We are continuing to pursue the technologies developed within DxtER together in a comprehensive consumer diagnostic device as well as along independent tracks.
